A hydro turbine (water turbine) is a machine that converts pressure energy (potential energy) mechanical of rotational water into work. Net power/torque generated by hydro turbine is proportional to the product of pressure at inlet to the cooling tower and flow rate entering the cooling tower.

When the power generated is equal or more than the fan input power by electric motor then it becomes feasible to replace the electric motor, gearbox, drive shaft by hydro turbine. The CT Hydro Turbine converts the potential/pressure energy of water to drive the fan without the use of electric motor which otherwise was being wasted.

By implementing replacement of electric motor/gearbox etc. by Hydro Turbine for the operation of Fan will:
